Generalaire 990-53 Humidifier Solenoid Valve Canada
Specifications:
24 Volt solenoid valve used on General Air Power Humidifier model # 1042
This is a 24 volt, AC electrically-operated valve that turns the water on and off to your humidifier.
Preinstalled inside of the valve is a strainer screen, which filters the water before it passes through the valve, catching things like sand and dirt which could otherwise cause blockage.
Replace every ten years.
Fits models:
1040L, 1040LH, 709L, 709LH, 1040, 1042L, 1042LH, 1137, 1042DM, 1042DME.
(Note: This valve operates on 24 volts, however some units are equipped with a 115 volt solenoid valve. Look closely at your old one to see what voltage it is rated at before ordering this valve. This item can be mounted on the left OR right side of the humidifier.)
Voltage and unit model number are the two things to considerate when purchasing solenoid valves.

Glad I found this part

I accidentally burned out my humidifier solenoid valve by turning off the water supply while the humidifier was working . With it so dry in the house I wanted to get the part and install it immediately. After I received it it took only 20 minutes to install and the humidifier is now up and running again.

Bad Design

Had the Humidifier installed on my furnace in 2010 and since then have gone through 4 of these Solenoid valves. Very poor design. Should last longer than that especially when the water supply is shut off in the summer.
